It is very important that all adults participate in the lives of children and teens. It is through relationships with caring adults that young people build the strengths, skills and resilience they need to become caring, healthy adults.

It's easy! Connect with Kids. You can make a difference!

  • Organize a neighborhood block party - set-up games and activities for kids of all ages.
  • Smile at children and teens on the street or at the mall.
  • Have neighbors bring over their favorite board games, and set up play areas around the house. Encourage family members to split up and play with children of other families.
  • Send postcards while on travel to nieces, nephews and kids who live in your neighborhood.
  • Volunteer in schools or with other youth serving organizations. Visit the Arlington County volunteer web site at http://www.volunteersolutions.org/acvo/volunteer/.
  • Become a boy scout or girl scout troop leader. Find out how at www.gscnc.org for girl scouts or www.troop106.net for boy scouts.
