The faith community is one of the very few places where people of all ages gather regularly. This provides a wonderful opportunity to "Connect with Kids". It is through relationships with caring adults that young people build the strengths, skills and resilience they need to become caring, healthy adults.
It's easy! Connect with Kids. You and your congregation can make a difference!
- Make sure that there are lots of opportunities for adults of all ages to be together with children and teens.
- Be a "grandparent" or "aunt or uncle" for children and teens in your congregation.
- Show your youth ministers, youth group leaders and religion instructors that you do value them. Support them anyway you can.
- Include young people on the various committees in your congregation. Listen to what they have to say.
- Celebrate children, teens and families at a religious service.
- Encourage meaningful service opportunities for young people.
- Be as welcoming to teens as you are to babies.
