Partnership Initiatives

Since its inception, the Partnership has focused on three major initiatives:
  • Assets: The Partnership adopted the Assets Framework to guide its discussions and goals for children, youth and families. This framework identifies the developmental building blocks or "assets" that children need to become healthy, caring, responsible adults. It also offers community members practical ways to build assets with our children and youth. A brief overview of our most recent findings on assets among Arlington youth can be found in Listening to Our Young People. For a more detailed look, read our report.
  • Recommendations: In keeping with its mandate to develop a community agenda, the Partnership submitted a number of recommendations in the areas of school readiness and success, activities and opportunities for youth and health and mental health services.
  • Community Report Card: The Partnership is developing a community report card to use in measuring success in reaching the goals established for children, youth and families. The 2008 Community Report Card on the Status of Children, Youth, and Families in Arlington County, Virginia is available online (in pdf format).
See the section on Committees to learn more about the other, ongoing work of the Partnership.
