I. Overview

The Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families
held its fifth annual retreat on January 8, 2005. Part of the time was
spent reviewing the accomplishments of 2004, identifying the impacts of
these accomplishments in the community, and looking ahead to next steps.
The primary accomplishments of 2004 were:
- Using the Community Report Card to engage the community in choosing
priorities, setting targets, and identifying strategies to meet the
targets;
- Launching the Connect with Kids campaign to increase community
awareness around assets;
- Working with the Teen Network Board to give youth a voice in their
community;
- Administering the Youth Risk Behavior Survey to 3,400 Arlington
sixth to twelfth graders;
- Launching the "Too Smart To Start" alcohol prevention program for
Arlington fifth graders;
- Launching a speaker series for parents of teens;
- Continued developments at Carlin Springs Community School;
- Gaining 501(c)(3) status for the Partnership Foundation and
receiving funds;
- Deepened work on the part of the Board Development Committee to
strengthen communication and understanding among the Partnership
