2002 Report
VI. Priorities Established for 2003-2004
In October, 2002, the Partnership Board held a retreat to examine and prioritize its many initiatives. Ten initiatives emerged as key priorities for the Partnership and its committees over the next two years.
- The Assets Initiative—continue to build community awareness and commitment.
- Surveys—The Partnership is committed to repeating the surveys on alternating years. The Profiles of Student Life, or “Assets” survey will be administered again to a large sample of Arlington youth in March 2003.
- Participation in the County-sponsored Strategic Plan on services to children and families, including parent education, child care, and early childhood programs.
- Community Report Card – will feature certain indicators of the health and well-being of Arlington’s children and their families. Will be released in the fall of 2003.
- Get Real Teen calendar and web site enhancements
- Collaboration Issues-- Fostering collaboration is an essential part of our mission.
The Gunston after-school program is one of the original Partnership initiatives.
We will be strengthening and evaluating the Gunston collaboration efforts through Schools and Recreation staff at all levels.
- Mental Health awareness and education for teachers, parents, and students
- Youth Involvement initiatives—the Partnership will initiate and promote communication and involvement with youth by listening, testing and sharing ideas, and helping move ideas into actions.
- Designing and recruiting a Community School(s)
- Awareness/Prevention Campaign based on survey data
